medical technology

FRIDAY. 
waiting for the jeep to pass by my house.

my neighbor approached me. we had this conversation:

neighbor: o anong year kana nian?

me: 3rd year po.

neighbor: anong course mo? nursing ba?

me: ayy hindi po. medtech po.

neighbor: ahh.akala ko nursing. naka white ka kase.

-who said only nursing students are the ones who wear white? nakoo. actually sa sobrang dami na ng nagsabi sakin nun di ko na matandaan. i respect nursing students pero naiinis ako everytime people thought im a nursing student. nursing lang ba ang course na pwedeng kunin pag college?

-the worst thing is that when i tell them that my course is medical technology. i have to supply a short explanation of what it is. like "medtech po. yung pong nagtatrabaho sa laboratory." tapos they will say: "ohh yung nagtetest ng tae."

-all i can say then is "ah. opo."

-those situations therefore says that some people are not aware what medical technology is about, and how important our role is in the medical field.

now let me define what medical technology is.

Medical technology is a part of the  health technology which includes a wide range of health related tasks and involves in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

medical technologists analyze and perform tests with body tissues, blood and different body fluids for doctors to diagnose the patients disease and to provide the right treatment.

-in short medical technology extends and improves lives.
